Taylor Swift announces ANOTHER surprise album
We need to calm down
Taylor Swift has delighted fans with the announcement that her ninth studio album Evermore will drop tonight (early hours tomorrow morning for SA fans)! The new release will feature 15 brand new songs (17 on the deluxe edition) and is the sister album to her most recent (and also surprise) album Folklore which dropped just four months ago.
On top of all that we can also look forward to the release of the music video for her new song Willow tomorrow!
It’s been a big year for the artist, who found her imagination running wild after having to cancel her Lover tour and festival to stay home amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. Folklore earned critical acclaim (she’s received six Grammy nominations, including album of the year) and a big commercial reception (the album topped charts in the UK and US) as well as its own special film feature on Disney Plus, but the songs kept coming even when she had completed an entire album.
“To put it plainly, we just couldn’t stop writing,” she said in a social media post.
“To try and put it more poetically, it feels like we were standing on the edge of the folklorian woods and had a choice: To turn and go back or to travel further into the forest of this music. We chose to wander deeper in.”
According to one of her posts, the album is also a tribute to fans to mark the star’s 31st birthday, as well as a tribute to anyone experiencing a blue festive season thanks to Covid.
Evermore marks the first time that Swift has created a two part album experience and as with Folklore the new album will contain collaborations with other artists Bon Iver, Aaron Dessner and the group Haim.
We. Are. Here. For. It.
